Here is not so much a "new" idea but something that has been proven to work (from what I have read by some members in another forum).

Create 1 page a day focussed around an individual product from CJ (and/or other networks).

I'll use Dave as an example because his site is focussed around Health. http://www.inatureshealing.com/

My project for you

1. Create 1 new page (at least) everyday. Some days you may have time for 5 or more).

2. Instead of creating a page, for example selling herbs, create individual pages focused around individual products.

Each page will be a optimized, doorway page with a paragraph or two about a individual product and then linked to the product page of your affiliate (can be done through CJ).

How to find which products to promote? Use the overture search term suggestion term and others : http://www.overture.com/d/USm/adcent...ls/index.jhtml

Ex.
Vitamin D was searched for 4,490 times last month on overture.
Then take a look at the top rankings for this term on Google.
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...nt&q=vitamin+d
The key is finding products that are searched for at least 1000 times a month and is not a highly contested keyword. Trying to gain a top ten listing for the terms Herbs or Vitamins would be a heck of a project, but a top 10 for an individual product would not be so hard.

13,924 searches for st johns wort! Google results:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...=Google+Search

Anyway, this could be used for any and all individual products...
Wait a couple months and watch you Google hits start coming in. Of course it is not quite as simple as I make it but it almost is!

I also have not added a whole lot of detail in this thread, but just wanted to get it started.

In Summary:

Use CJ to find companies with good conversion rates.
Browse through their products to see which are the best sellers.

Use Wordtracker and Overture for keywords based around that one item. 1000 searches minimum suggested.

Build a single page around the product/item in question, and optimize it for Google using the search terms.

Link from homepage and submit to engine. Linking from your homepage rather than burying it deep in your site couldl get you a better pagerank.

Sounds like a good idea and is similar to what I do with book reviews for my site... only I'm not going to be able to do a book review a day, not if I want to do it justice.

Speaking of which, that reminds me, I've got too book reviews to finish (2 of the 4 books I was sent to review, yes I got the ones I asked for!)...

From experience, I know that the pages do rank well for searches for the book/author because of the way I've written the pages, although admittedly I do better for searches for the author as not all reviews feature the name of the author in the page title... less competition.

What are you referring to as CJ?

Hi Chief,

That sounds like a novel idea to not only improve search engine rankings and make money at the same time. I hope that's the point you were trying to make, lol.

While it sounds very interesting, it definitely won't work for all sites. One of the sites I'm working on is a message board directory. Obviously, there aren't that many message boards with money to invest, considering most are free. I might get a few paid boards, but of course, they aren't that many paid boards. It only works with sites with a very broad topic like "health", "books", "webmastering", "free stuff", etc. I can't even see it working too well for a pretty big topic like "humor". However, this is definitely one of the best ideas I've heard in a while, at least for many sites on the net.

Now...anybody willing to take the risk and dive in?

Question: Since this is an optimized, doorway page, where does it reside? Would you suggest putting it on your host with your site? Or possibly putting it on a free host, like Geocities?

Can the page location make a difference in your success?

For example, which would be better: (left off the http://www so it wouldn't make it a link)

somefreehost.myproduct1.html
mysite/myproduct1.html

Dave

This would make a great article for the newsletter!!!

What some people do is buy one domain that host all of the product pages. If you were going to sell a wide variety of products then the domain could be much broader. Your traffic won't be to the home page but rather the individual optimized product pages. For example... YourDiscountProducts.com (actually available). Then you could use any product. I don't recommend using a free host. But I/We can host your new domain for free when TH is setup. The site would use very little bandwith. And since domains are so cheap now days I would just buy a new domain. But if your current site is in DMOZ the advantage is that you would probably already get a small ranking boost on those pages for that.

When I get a little more time, I will try this out myself and tell you my results.

We could even do this in the form of a contest. It would be a good experiment for all of us and we would learn a lot in the process. Not to mention it could be become very profitable for some of us.

I know this works and don't know why I don't just get started!
I personally have read success stories of affiliates making thousands a month using this technique. The key is developing many many product pages. Some will rank better than others. They don't have to be fancy they just have to sell (get them to click on the affiliate link). Keep in mind it will take a month or two for Google to finally list your new pages.

The ONLY problem with this is keeping up all the links valid

You need to built a good backend for this first imo!

Posters.Biz is what I am doing that would be similiar..page a day though.?.I need a swift kick to do that..

each page reflects a search term with the appropriate products/posters

If you use gotos inventory you simply go down the line for the most requested search words/terms under posters..
as in http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...ry/suggestion/
;$sessionid$TANE24AADT4A4CQVLM4ASYQ

Posters
music posters
movie posters
art posters
etc..

I can and (should be )(an sometimes do) breaking that down even further..

http://wrestlingposters.posters-posters.com for example..simple 1 page to cover people searching for "wrestling posters"

Build individual poster pages for each "hot" artist ..( I use that term loosely with interms of most of todays music..Britney Spears , Boy bands etc..)

I have wanted (am am willing still .to break up all that work by offering free sub-domains in exchange that the person signs up as my sub affiliate..

Someone could get Sports.Posters.Biz and then have PAGES for each product...baseball, Golf, Hockey etc...

I think thats an approach that helps everyone..saves me from building 365 pages a years/ I still get a percentage off my subs sales.. and It provides my subs with FREE domain and small site..

I just need to start implementing it..

You know, there are two ways of looking at this.

1, as a promotional technique which has the potential to earn money while there is interest.

2, as a way to build up quality and useful content for your site, in which case a page a day is a little too optimistic unless it's your day job.

Personally, I would look at such a project to improve the quality of my site rather than to create unrelated doorway pages... so I would (and do) integrate my book reviews in with my main site, no shame in promoting a book I've read that is useful to my visitors in return for a little commission.

Remember, product pages can be content too... so make the most of them and make them more than a quick way of getting sales...
