Greetings my name is zeromod and I am the webmaster at jrclan homepage I seem to have an issue where opera/konqueror (linux browser) mozilla suite, firefox and all browsers even safari for mac load my page fine but good old Internet Explorer will not. Not only on my system but of course everyones. Actually I can get it to load if i use my SSL https://jrclanpage.com it prompts me saying there are secure and nonsecure items on the page, asks if I would like to continue loading and i say yes and it does load. This is a clan page for gaming I have put together for my lil bro in West Virginia and I'd hate for him to lose members if they stop coming due to browser issues. Any help would be appreciated as this is my top priority right now. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely
Zeromod

You used <embed> to put the Flash on the page, right ?? Well, that won't work anymore, as you've found out. You are going to have to use a different method of putting flash (or any other active content) into a web page. MS lost the EOLAS patent lawsuit, which is why people with PATCHED versions of IE and Windows have to click twice to see active content.

There are several methods of including Flash:
Valid Flash, video, and audio embed (object) markup - The Web Standards Project

LOL I wish I could fix this but I can't. You see I used a nifty little cheater program to create my front page content. Alllll of that nice flash you see (or dont see if you use IE lol) was done with an app that allowed me to edit my links and text and I picked the rest from a gallery. My forums work fine fortunately in all browsers Vbulletin 3.6.. But As far as editing the swf and htm files myself haaha not going to happen anytime soon, I can barely scrape by with editing forum templates and css to add links for modules Iv'e added and thats with detailed walkthroughs. Im a bit confused on the patched issue Im afraid I dont know what that means, as in a certain version 6 or 7 or higher than 5 doesnt work or any that have been patched since this patent was lost. Doesn't matter much I suppose just curious. Umm I don't suppose I could ask anyone for some help with editing the content? hint hint my evangelistic friend lol. At any rate thanks for the explanation At least I have a solid answer for my forum members and a resolution that I will probably pay ridiculous ammounts of cash for some "Webpro" to fix.

Sincerely
Zeromod

You don't need to modify the SWF at all, all you need to do is change the way the Flash object is coded into your HTML. It's not all THAT hard. The SWFObject gives you fairly detailed instructions on how to do it.

MS had been in the EOLAS patent squabble for some time. The initial patch release was supposed to be last winter, but it got delayed (no surprise, it's MS). I think it got pushed out early this year. Windows and IE patches people got thru Windows Update, plus new installations.

The problem that I see that could be tricky is that the Flash is embeded using Javascript. The script file actually writes the <embed> code. I'm not sure my javascript skills are good enough to change it, but I can try .
