A lot of sites now display a floating window (splash screen?) which is an advertisement for a limited amout of time before disappearing. I have no idea what this is called but I would like to know how this is done.
I know splash screens are not a huge hit, but my web page takes a few seconds to load up and I wanted to provide a short window which pops up upon first visit and the quickly disappears after a few seconds.
Anyone know what this technique is called and how to do it?
