I hope this is the correct terminology, i am looking to embedd text in dreamweaver 2,

as we know that if i want to use a certain font in a webpage and that font isn't on the other person computer it uses the default font. how do i go about using different fonts in mywebpage so they don't default to a default font.

please help

I recommend sticking to basic fonts that come standard to windows. You can use CSS to specify an order of which fonts to use. Something similar to this should work

style="font-family:Times New Roman, Times, serif"

The best idea is to really let the font default to user preference if they don't have the font you specify installed on their computer. One of the most important things for web designers to accept is that we can't control everything about how our pages will look. It's best to be flexible in designs.

If you want to use a specific font for a small amount of text your best bet is to make an image of the text. That way you can be assured everyone will see the same font.

You can embed fonts into your html if you really want to. Here's an Embedding Fonts Tutorial from webmonkey.

Keep in mind though that the standard fonts are the easiest to read and generally the best to use for large blocks of text.

True true. Be flexible in your designs. But if you have to constraint the font to the one you use displayed everywhere and not changed, use an image.
