Hi all,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out with this.

I'm building a new site from scratch using DW. Everything was going fine until today, and I'm not quite sure what happened.

I built a template on which to base most of my site's pages, and it seemed to do the trick. Updates to the template were reflected in the dependent, files, etc. But at some point this stopped working, and I got all confused what with the filepaths that the template appeared to be inserting into the code for the dependent files (i.e. "Templates/shoes.html" or "../shoes.html", both of which appeared in the code of different dependent pages at different times.

I got so fed up that I decided to just start building the site all over again, so I set up a new Site definition in DW and got to work. I set up a new template, and now whenever I try to create a new file based on that template, I get these crazy filepaths that have replaced all my links! This is what it looks like:

href="file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Setting...ite/shoes.html"> Shoes

The code looks fine in the .dwt template file - it's just the new files I'm creating that have this filepath that refers to my hard drive.

What's going on here? If anyone could provide some assistance, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Ok, I got the filepath issue to go away and everything seems to be (sort of) ok. But now my problem is that changes made to my template are once again not being reflected in my pages that use the template.

Is there some trick I should be using, such as only updating the template when all those files are open or closed or something?

All I'm trying to do is change a link on the nav bar in the template from pointing to "newsletter.html" to point to "subscribe.html" - very simple.

Welcome to WT

if the changes are made to an editable region, then they will not affect the other pages.

using the templating system, you can only update the non-editable regions.

check if the nav bar is a editable or a non editable region.

It's definitely a non-editable region, which is what is so strange! The only editable region I have in my template is a certain table on the RH side of the page.
