Crimson Editor... PSPad... are good.

HTML Kit or NVU if you want to get serious.

being that this thread is in the "wysiwyg editors" area i am talking about wysiwyg editors.

I personally have used

www.NVU.com. It's not bad for a freebie.

The only other freebie I thought about trying was:

Xinha... many of the others out there are dead projects or are lacking in major areas from what I've found.

i found some on downloads.com and i downloaded a few and i think one of them was NVU i havent installed them yet, but thanks everyone.
