Hi there, I am a new web designer and I am just baffled at how a new designer can afford to use quality professional photographs on their work!! Most sites with free downloads don't have any great pictures of people, and the ones that do are SOOO expensive!? I couldn't make ANY money if I use those! I really need professional shots of people. (families, babies, business people etc.)

What do normal designers do for this...?

Seriously, I don't tend to buy any from photostock websites, but that may be the way to go if you can find one affordable. On the other hand, I have a friend who does all my graphics and photos for my sites. Perhaps you can find someone in your area that would be able to help you out.

Invest in a digital camera, prices are dropping way down!!!

Digital camera, photo CDs, Miguel is right prices have gone way down on cameras.

Don't get caught!

Especially by someone who uses DigiMark or similar companies to protect their images.

You find yourself the defendant in a lawsuit that'll cost you more than if you had purchased the images legally!

If you go to http://www.istockphoto.com you are charged for downloads. One download costs 1 credit. Credits can be purchased for $0.50 each. You can also earn money by uploading photos ($0.10 every time one of your photos are downloaded).

Personally, I think 50c for an image is excellent value and you can even get your first free as you get 1 free download credit.

All sounds nice. I bought 2000 NICE High Resolutions pics here in a store (Royalty Free) for 100$. I can provide anybody a copy if they need.

Is that legal?

I don't think reselling it is right. However you've to read their TOS .
