If you're running Windows XP and you've noticed your PC slowing down and even stalling on occasion as of the last few weeks: First, create a system restore point. Then, go to the 'add/remove programs' console in control panel and uninstall the last 'Windows XP Hotfix (sp2)' in the list. This is providing that you do check for and install updates frequently or run the automatic update feature.
For the last week and a half or so I've been noticing that it takes an unusually long amount of time for programs to load after I'd click on them. Sometimes when I would attempt to access a file or save a file from a program, my unit would hang up for a moment. Sometimes when acccessing websites my PC would stall for a bit.
Well, I did a bit of research this morning, after exhausting every other possibility, and found that the latest service pack from Microsoft was causing a lot of people's PCs to slow down. Has something to do with a security leak in the system cache.
