Hi

I'm looking for advice about enabling viewers to see changed pages. If viewers goes to a page that has changed content then their browser may still be showing the old content from their cache. If they're not aware that content has changed then they may not explore further.
Is it advisable to use a bit of scripting to automatically force a single refresh so that when they open a page it will force their browser to refresh and so they will automatically see the new page rather than their old cached one?
Any ideas and if so does anyone have a good script that will do a once only refresh rather than a continual meta refresh command.

regards

If I were you I'd look into options of how to optimize caching, i.e. ways of telling user agents and proxies what to cache, what not to cache, and how long for. There's a few ways to do it.

There are several opinions for and against this, but we won't go there.

You can try a javascript refresh script. That of course assuming that all your viewers have javascript enabled.

Then again, most browsers have this feature, maybe you could explain (in short) how to do it on the site?
