The first thing to do, if you haven't already, is insert 'key words,' into your coding. These appear in a meta tag at the very beginning of all the HTML gubbins. These words should appear frequently within the content of your index page, allowing the search engine bots to spot and log the keywords against potential search criteria.
Bots also search for how many links a site may have from others. So, if there are 20 sites with a link to your site but 200 sites with a link to a rival site, the latter would rank higher with the search engine.
