It is probably embedded in PHP code somewhere, what appears externally is only what the server spits out and what the PHP interpreter passes on to the server.
Find the code that the W3c spell check doesn't like and search the PHP scripts for it. If it appears on all URLs then you know it is in a file/script that is common to all documents or a template. You will probably have to do a lot of hunting if it isn't fairly common to several URLs.
