I am getting complaint about the color of my websites.

I also have a thing about having dark backgrounds, and bright foregrounds.

Can someone provide me with some tips on the rules I would need when selecting the right color values to use for such a website.

I happen to specialize in color marketing and I believe I've talked to you before about the design of your site. The way its set up right now is kind of archaic looking. It almost looks like its made up of DOS commands.

Black or dark grey backgrounds with green or orange text is extremely hard on the eyes. You won't be able to keep people on the site very long with the colors you're using.

get ride of the entire background blackish/grey color and replace it with either white or a pale yellow. Also its not clear what the intention of the site is. Can you give us more info here what exactly the focus is? The, I could give you more tailored advice on the color usage.
