Hello everyone.

I'm making a site whereby people sign up to it for a year at a small price. The members then get a photo shoot once a month for the duration of their membership. I know how to password protect my site and I know about how to accept payment from people. The problem I'm having is this.

Lets say I start my site on January, person number 1 signs up on January. A few months later, say April person number 2 signs up. Mr 1 would be a member until the following January whereby he will have to renew his membership. Likewise Mr 2 will be a member until the following April. They each get 12 photoshoot in that year, once a month.

Right? The problem I'm having is how to stop Mr 2 from viewing the Jan, Feb, March shoots as well as the ones he has paid for. That means Mr 1 would leave at the end of december with 12 photo shoots and Mr 2 will walkaway after the next April with 15!

Anyone got any ideas how to do this? I could just make the shoots available for that month then remove them but members might have missed a shoot because they were away or erased photos from the harddrive by accident so want to re-download them again. In which case they have to still be able to get access to the photographs they paid for during their membership.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for your time
Mike

This is more of a coding issue, I think it would do better in either the HTML/CSS forum or in one of the server-side forums.

I would say that each month would have to be numbered (1..n) and you when you register you have a begin number (Person 1 get #1 and Person 2 gets #4) and you also then have an end number (Person 1 #12, Person 2 #15) and then restrict access by comparing month numbers and the begin/end member numbers.

i would do it the easiest way possible, which is...
to end EVERYONES membership in december no matter what. this means that they will still get to see everyones photoshoot from the past year so they get 12... and then they have to re-pay at the beginning of the new year.

this may seem like an inconvience to your members but its really not.

you may want to lower the price a little each month so that it seems fair... lol.

Hi, sorry I wasn't sure where to stick it.
How would I go about restricting access to certain members?
Omega I like your idea and it is probably fair. However, as well as the photos there will be other things available to members and they should be entitled to 12 months access to them.
See I don't want to have the monthly billing thing that other sites have because people just join for a month and take years worth of material. If I was charging a fortune it would be OK but I only want a little to help pay for overheads and pay for equipment etc.

Mod feel free to move this if you like.

well... your going to have to use php to determine what members have the right and what members don't have the right... your proably going to have to have a different script for each of the 12 months, and a logger that tells what month the user signed up on. Another script to wrap it all up.

sorry i can't type out php yet, but i can use it.
