Ok, so I'm going to go ahead and admit that I know NOTHING about website design, but I have been assigned a website design task at my job (I am a college student- it is a part time job). Anyway, my boss needs a website that we can upload thousands of pdf files to. My school has given my boss 20 gb of personal webspace, but when I go to his webspace, it looks like this:

Index of/~(boss's name)

Name Last Modified Size Description

Parent Directory

Does anyone know what this is or how I could take something like this and turn it into a website?? Thanks!

In order to build a web site you have to create HTML files. My guess for your stated usage, all you really need is a page with a whole lot of links to the PDFs you're going to upload.

The first page will have to be named either index.html or default.html (with or without the "l" works too) in order for anything to come up when you enter the URL in your browser.

to upload the files you will need some sort of FTP application - Filezilla is probs the best. Just download, get the login details from your school and upload. If you follow the advice above you will be able to see the files you upload
