Friends,
I would like to submit that having the FairTax plan enacted into law will help us fight the war on terror. I believe that it is common knowledge that terrorist use the drug trade to finance their operations. Why can't we also? Slow down, I'm not suggesting that America get into the business of selling drugs. But if the FairTax plan were adopted guess what happens. Whenever anyone in America buys an item they will be paying taxes to the federal government which in turn pays for the national defense. So whenever a drug dealer, illegal immigrant, or terrorist buys something in America they are contributing to their own demise by paying for the national defense through the FairTax. These little gang bangers and all their bling bling and plasma screens aren't cheap and that means more money to the federal government that currently is not being taxed. The drug trade that is paying for our enemies operations is currently almost completely a tax free operation. How is that a good idea? If we use the FairTax we can take at least some of that money back from without them even knowing it.
Any thoughts on my proposal are encouraged and appreciated.
Here's to small government and self-reliance.

Your approach would be great - if you are a DRUG DEALER - are you forgetting that AMERICA is a country of LAWS?

It sounds like a great idea.

Rosco,
I want a consumption tax also...I have a few fears though:
1) If we are getting more tax revenues through the fair tax can we trust the government with it.. More taxes = more spending with Democrats and Republicans.
2) More spending = raising more taxes. So if we have a 18 percent consumption tax. 2 years from now we can have a 20 percent tax. Now, my suggestion is have an 18 % tax and have the states and the government split it and abolish every tax in America. Also when the tax is inacted it cannot be raised for 10 years. This will keep spending in check and in no way can they even vote on it for 10 years.
3) How would we keep the government from taxing a widgit from manufacturer to consumer. If a business makes a widgit then sells it to a wholesaler then the wholesaler to a retailer, the retailer to the consumer......there is an awful lot of possible taxation there and where there is the smell of taxation money .....there is your government.
If I can think of anything else I will write
Ronnie
Where can I find such a thing?
