Alright, I have my site where I keep poems, and occasional prose. Normally I write free verse, and it isn't a problem to update when everything is left or right aligned.
I have a new poem in which I would like to keep the formatting such as spacing. I know that HTML will not allow you more than once space as well. I need about 13/14 spaces though. There is always the <pre> tag. I really would not like to have courier as a font though.

Does anyone know of a way to keep the formatting of the text other than that of <pre>?

If you are wanting to have consecutive spaces and you are using Dreamweaver.

Open your Document in DW.

Click EDIT > PREFERENCES > (in left column) GENERAL > Tick box that says 'Allow consectutive Spaces' > Click OK.
