Hi HGF Webmaster,

Try downloading the HTML editors yourself.

Unless, you mean that you want a paid program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage, in which case, distribution of such files is illegal. And it probably wouldn't be very wise to send Frontpage (a Microsoft product) over MSN (a Microsoft network).

Tiggy, wise words, wise words indeed. coders and designers assessment hits the nail on the head.

no matter how you are inclined; Frontpage is good to get a page set up; tables etc.; but after that forget about it; you need to get your hands dirty with the html, javascript etc. dreamweaver is admittedly good for fancy pull-down menus, embedding flash etc but really, when you think about it...it all that really worth it? any html editor should only be viewed as a user-friendly text editor so you can monitor in 'preview' what your changes are doing; use your WYSIWYG to wise up not to dumb down people! that's the difference between a good and bad web designer; I'm sure I don't need to preach to you lot! I better go now.......

I use Dreamweaver & Notepad by the way depending on situation but I learned the ropes in Frontpage 98.

and Chopper...what's Dreamweather? we could do with some of that in Ireland because it rains a lot.

3 it's easy to use for basic users
3 it's got everything advanced users ned to create profesional webpages with html and javascript

I use a combination of Dreamweaver and EditPlus2. Dreamweaver is great for adding form information, tables, css, etc and for previewing designs. But I like EditPlus2 for it's PHP syntax hilighting

Okay I am going to post again here since I have new ones now...

I still use notepad but barely.

WinSyntax - Free, syntax highlighting and line numbering. Plus other features like the find and replace etc. I enjoyed with notepad.

New one new one new one and I am in love with it.

EditPlus - now this isn't free beyond the trial...

However this program saved me hours of work the very first time I used it and won me over big time.

It is just like WinSyntax at first glance but the one thing I needed WinSyntax didn't do. EditPlus did.

I was able to search 50 pages for a big chunk of code and replace that big chunk with one line. Only took about a minute.

What I was doing was switching to a server side include. That big chunk of code was now in one file and all I had to do was change the link on about 50 pages to go that file.

It would have taken me hours to do this but EditPlus did them all in less than one minute. I was also able to save changes to all 50 pages just like that.

So that is my new favorite.
