Actually, that's what I use the most, too. I rarely use Dreamweaver, but if I do use an editor, that's the one I would turn to. I would like to learn how to utitlize it more for the sake of the time it can save and such. I've also used it to create photo albums in a pinch.

But once hooked on notepad, I found it's really tough to get used to any editor.

I started out with Notepad, and I think it works great.

Then I found out about Notepad++. It's amazing, and it makes coding ten times faster for me, with the color coding and easy indents and stuff. It's a great program, and what I use now :P.

I completely agree. Notepad++ really prevents situations when you get stuck just because of a simple colon/semicolon typo and thinks like that because of the syntax-highlighting. Tabs and easy-indents are always welcome . Whats more its Open Source

Edit-Plus 2(not free) is another good option, and almost as good

Macromedia is hands down the best. I sincerely hope Adobe doesn't screw this up.

Started with Alleycode, moved to HTML-Kit. Have DW, never use it. There just aren't any wysiwygs worth my time when I have to recode 90% of their output....

Having used a few over time it has to Dreamweaver definitely. IMHO its more professiona and doesn't screw up code to the same extent as a number of others. I still advocate that before using any package like this the writer should be conversant with HTML, CSS etc.

I also prefer to use Note Pad if I'm making a simple page..I think it is better to use the old fashioned way so that you can refresh your mind on some codes of the program. It will also help you to become more familiar on some tags.. By Using Notepad, you can better improve and develop your knowledge in developing and designing websites..

On the other hand, if the site is too complex and has many links, I think that it is really better to use Dreamweaver.. It helps you to easily finish your site because you are no longer require to make or code programs. This HTML Editor will provide that to you, all you need is to click, drag and choose from codes stored on Dreamweaver. Aside from this, it also helps you to reduce errors on coding programs.

I prefer IDE's (Integrated Development Environments) that have syntax highlighting and other features.

I use Komodo-Edit for Windows and Vim and Anjuta on Linux.

I use DreamWeaver, and its always set to either the code view or split screen where I only use the code area. I have been known to use notepad for quick edits but mainly use DreamWeaver.
