Anybody still using FrontPage really needs to stop. It creates redundant, invalid, and useless code more than Dreamweaver. It's a terrible editor, which is why Microsoft is dropping it.

I personally use Dreamweaver because simply...it's the greatest. First off, it highlights your code in all different types of languages, it gives you code hints. Also, it has a built-in W3C validator (mentioned above) which saves time. On top of that, Dreamweaver 8 has a language reference built-in for a pile of different languages.

Some people say that they only use notepad because they're "hardcore programmers". In reality, you're just being naive. It's like eating a steak with a spoon; sure it's possible but why would you?

LMFAO, I've often felt that way and never new how to properly express it.

I use a combination of Dreamweaver and Notepad, but only use the latter because there are just some things that are easier for me to code by hand than to learn how to do in the program. Sounds silly, huh?

Earlier I used frontpage but once I tried Dreamweaver, I never switched back to anything. Its the best WYSIWYG editor as well as HTML/PHP editor too.

I tend to use Dreamweaver (though at work we're still on version 4!) for most of the time, mainly because of the templating options etc, I never really did get the hang of Front Page, just always seems to cumbersome to dreamweaver (Though this was back on FrontPage 97). I do tend to compliment what ever I do in dreamweaver with either Crimson Editor or TSW Web Coder - mainly to edit CSS style sheets (Dreamweaver 4 isn't too good at these or displaying heavily set CSS pages) and quick small alterations to a page that seem daft to open Dreamweaver up for...

dreamweaver 8 is really good. I've not tried frontpage past frontpage 2003, but it was ok.

I started with FrontPage years ago ....

I still use it for the text editor. It does everything I need to do, so why spend time learning something new??

HTML-Kit is my choice, and has been for over 2 years. Wouldn't touch dreamweaver, or anything that goes into design view. Browsers are there for design view as far as I'm concerned.

I suppose peoples tools of choice depend on if you are writing code and markup, or creating websites in a more visual way.

I personally use HTML kit from chami.com

I created these two sites http://www.list-corp.com, and http://www.twilightsurfers.com completely with HTML kit. It has thousands of plug ins available and you can validate your site with the W3C and Tidy through the software. Very handy. Also has a dictionary and thesaurus. I am actually a few weeks away from releasing my own web design package, called "Structured Site" It stores all pages in a database, with one click publishing. I can't wait to get it finished, cause I've been working on it for a year.

Took the words right out of my mouth... I see it more and more... And it's only cuz people read in other places and think that just by saying that they get instant "Programmer Status" But in the end, it's what gets the job done, that counts.

Dreamweaver hands down. Front pages generates too many crappy and proprietory tags.
