I've been using HTML KIt for awhile now. I downloaded a trial version of Ultra Edit and like it a lot, but it didn't compare with HTML KIT for it's realtime editing features, which is one of my main requirements in an editor. That and syntax highlighting.
I'm really fine in just about any editor though. I don't care for WYSIWYG editors at all and never use the limited WYSIWYG features or any editor.

I bought CoffeeCup back in 1998 or so. I paid $49 for it, and I have yet to pay for an upgrade. There have been several good upgrades, and it outperforms all the overfluffed ones available today. (for me anyway)
I can't speak for the WYSIWYG side of this software. I use the text editor function, and it works alot like Textpad. (which I also use) For $49, even if you used it as a standby editor - you really can't go wrong. I did use arachnophilia years ago - but I'm not sure how it's fared over time. Looks like it's java based now - hmmm - gonna have to try it again ;-)

Hi to all,
Has anyone tried Alleycode? I've been using Dreamweaver for years on M$ Windows, but find it overly complex and buggy... at the other end of the scale I use Pico on command line GNU/Linux, but this is so basic (white text on black) it's hard to read for an old git like me, which is why I prefer not to use command line I guess! Try Alleycode as you might like it - formatted text and the ability to link into an FTP client... oh and it's free! (unlike Dreamweaver!) ![]() Website design uk |
