The email address I have set up to do all my business with (contact@freshbeat.co.uk) seems to work fine with any email account except hotmail!

I have an old hotmail account and whenever I send myself an email to it, it just goes straight into the junk folder. Is there anyway I can prevent this? Even when I just type a couple of words in the email and include nothing that could be classed as spam, it still doesn't work!

Have you tried adding the email to your contacts...?

That would solve it for my Hotmail account but Im trying to figure out if there's anything I can do so that anyone's Hotmail address can receive emails from me.

I have just had a reply from a 'live.co.uk' address so maybe it works for some of them! Live and Hotmail are more or less the same I think? I wouldn't know for sure though as I hate both of them.

Many businesses experience this problem. What most do is just prompt users to add their email to their whitelist to ensure proper delivery. Or you can just make it so users cant use Hotmail to do business with you.

That's exactly what email filters are for, I won't go into details, but technically, you could create one email filter to solve all your spam problems. Dedicate yourself to the project. Live and Learn.

I thought email filters were just for me to filter out any spam that I was receiving myself?

It has multiple factors I believe. One is the server in which your SMTP is setup with. Maybe the server you deal with has had some bad rep with spam mails. Are you hosting on shared, VPS or dedicated server?

Another issue that could cause this is the content in your email. This I'm not too familiar with.

Does your domain have a Reverse DNS record? Also, have you set up SPF records? Ask your host. Usually, this can cause your mail to be listed as spam.
