Ok, I am starting a company and currently work with quite a few clients as it is so my portfolio is delayed, lol.

Anyways, my question is the following:

Is it smart and a good idea to embed the developer of the website, will it greatly improve the ranking of the developers website for search engines and page rank and is there any caution I should take with doing this?

Thanks for your time.

I think your question is different than mine and should be asked in it's own topic.

I am designer and looking into possibly embedding my clients websites with my company url to help boost rankins kind of what Vendio.com and eBay search.

Personally, I never embed my website into client's websites. I think it is unprofessional. The only exception to this is sites that I have worked on for free, or close to free.

Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea as well. Better get some free themes or templates and that's where you can embed your site on.

Don't do it. There's nothing that we've found that provides a technical advantage to doing so, and often clients don't like seeing that kind of thing in their code. If you want to take credit for work, make sure your contract allows you to put a link of some kind below the footer of your client's site - that will help your SEO efforts more anyway.

Good luck!

I've always put a "designed and maintained" by link right at the bottom of each website page. I believe it has helped our serps - it may be coincidence, but when a small batch of websites recently went live, our personal website went up in the serps having been static for a month or so and without my having been particularly active in link building to our own website during this period.
