Why do my videos spend so long buffering?

I've recently started adding videos to my website, and I am curious as to why it takes my videos so long to load. Is it simply because the videos size is too big?

If that is the problem, can someone please tell me the best way to reduce a videos size (that might sound simple, but I'm new to this).

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Incidentally, the video that I've found to be the worst offender is located at http://www.jrosworld.com/videos/uk/deer/deer.html. It's an avi file.

You should use the most common "Streaming" video formats:

Mpeg or Quicktime

If you convert your avi files to one of those formats, you will notice a great difference in streaming quality

About avi videos: They are un-compressed video files, which will naturally take up more space, hence the longer buffer (loading) time.
