"Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1)"

It seems like my web logs show far too high a percentage of Mozilla browser visitors. Does the above agent information mean the visitor's browser was definitely Mozilla or Mozilla related or is my log software just categorizing all browsers, especially Internet Explorer, as Mozilla?

Incidentally, I use Opera mostly or Firefox myself, but I easily am able to differentiate between my visits to the website and others. My visits to the site using Opera, on a Mac, show up as Agent: Opera/9.27. But, more importantly, so far I have been the only visitor showing up as Opera in the site logs and that is EXACTLY what I would expect.

Generally, I would expect a far higher percentage of my users to be using Internet Explorer, so why am I frequently seeing Mozilla as the agent.

that is an IE7 User Agent

Mozilla is the code base that the browser is built on, not Mozilla the browser

The Mozilla/Firefox browsers are built on the Gecko engine
