Hi guys,

I would really appreciate some information here - I'm designing a Flash movie, where the user can press a button to play a sound - sounds simple, but I just can't find out how to do it. I have designed a button, and I just want to know, how can you make it so that when a user presses the button, a WAV file from your harddrive plays

well here's it coming

First of all. What program are u using?
Second u have to import a sound to the movie before playing it.
Third. When using an if{ construction or maybe some other it's sometimes impossible to play an audio file directly. In that case create a different Sprite(the thing with it's own timer) and tell it to play an audio on a certain frame.. then instead of telling the if function to play sound tell it gotoandplay the frame where you let the sound file play.

Well then post what you don't understand. Flash aint very hard to learn I recommend using swishmax it will get you going rather fast.
I learned flash a week ago and in that week i build the game HL2 Total Mayhem.

Thanks for the help - Im using Flash - I don't have a clue how to even import a sound

i use Macromedia Flash to, i can give ya a tutorial... im pretty sure it will work lol.

Im using MX so if something is a lil deifferetn if you dont have flash MX than... sorry lol:

Open Flash.

Open the Movie File you Are Making.

Insert your button (File>Import Than find your button, You can also import to library if you dont want it to automaticly insert in your Document)

Than Import your Sound (File>Import to Library Than find your Sound.

Place your Button where ya like.

Press F11 To Ope your Library

Click on your Button Wherever you paced it on your Stage

Now go to Windows>Actions (Or just press F9)

Now heres da Hard part... I forget how to do it but i think if you go into the actions pannel whie your button is selected Click Movie control and Browser/networking Than i think use Geturl (double click) And upload your music to a host and put that url there. If that dosent work fool around With the other commands such as Loadclip etc.

if your new to picture editing programs or flash
you will have a hard time in the beginning.
Once you know psp or flash it will be easy to understand the other.

Notice that everything is based upon layers and differents depth.
Notice that each movie clip has it's own timeline.
Notice that when resizing text it sometimes is a pain.:P there's a width option to fix that problem.

just file -> import the sound file (i would convert that to mp3 for loading speeds) and use a simple actionscript for the buttons (just click your way trough the actionpanel, ON -> MouseOver, Play "file" and so on.
