Upon submitting a form, I am presented with the following message:

Quote:
Method Not Allowed

The requested method POST is not allowed for the URL /contact.htm.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at aspect-construction.co.uk Port 80
Currently there is no action set for the form [but I dont see why that would bring up this message]

I have been contacting hosting-unlimited.net 's support system [as my client unfortunately registered with them], however they don't seem to have a clue about anything; and I cant get a straight answer!

Their latest 'support' has been in the following message:

Quote:
Hello Matt,

Could you please get the coding of 'contact.htm' rechecked by your programmer and let us know the results.

If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards
Ratheesh
Helpdesk Engineer
To which I replied stating the the code is valid XHTML aswell as providing a link to prove it.

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do on my part to fix this? Or is it a result of a terrible hosting company where the help and support cant even understand proper English?

It could be something like a <limit> configuration in the apache files
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/core.html#limit

For sure, it's a server configuration (or maybe a bug, but a misconfig is more probable) error, and probably they have a limit of that kind somewhere in their setup.

Thanks. I thought I'd just give what they said a shot and it seemed to work!
Confusing though, I would just expect the page to refresh itself on submission if no form action is specified?

I believe it's a browser behavior, but nothing standardized.
As a form must always have an action, they place an implicit action=current_page when it's missing.

I seeee! I did have the action set as the same page just as "contact.htm" and was confused at why it came up with the error.

Never mind at least its working now!

Thanks.
