Well, you could pirate it, but I advice against it. Save money and buy it. Seriously.(though I do dislike dreamweaver personally)

Well, what do you use. There is no way I can buy it. I'm trying to run these websites at 15 years old. Between school, work, websites, and friends, it isn't that easy. And I only work 1 day a week, so I don't get that much money.

MS Expression Web is $400 at LEAST ! NOT cheap at all, especially for a 15 year old.

I have to agree.. a package like DW or ExpressionWeb is NOT necessary, and you're better off coding by hand. There are some free editors out there, and then are packages like CoffeeCup which are ok and a LOT cheaper.

I started off using wordpad / notepad when I was 15-16 years old in school, my classes learned using wordpad and frontpage.

But I used Wordpad and Notepad for while till I could afford Dreamweaver, I got nice discount though since my uncle owns a bunch of charter schools I got a nice student discount from him

But yes it sucks at that age since most of the decent web designing software is very expensive.

well it seems to be around 300 on amazon for example

though i agree it's still expensive

either you're making enough web sites that you need to be able to afford it or then you have to rely on a free editor or hand code stuff.

Pirating software is definitely NOT something we advocate AT ALL.

What about CoffeeCup or Eversoft's 1st Page 2000 (Free) and First Page 2006

I would use Frontpage. Its easy to use and comes with microsoft office, which many people have. Ask around and you'll probably find someone that has a copy to loan you. Frontpage is pretty basic but is great for someone new and starting out. Hell I still use it sometimes when I'm feeling lazy.

Another thought is to go to your school and ask what programs they have for students. Schools often have school copies of things or even have some they can give out for free or low cost.

Anything you do don't use front page this was really designed for amateur web designers I know dreamweaver is quite pricey but its possible to get a student discount on it if you can prove that your a student another alternative which is free is aptana which can be used code xhtml and css and you could download a free graphical application software called gimp to design sites in.

Hey Buckshot,

The best way to start out i found was the use notepad. Its old school but it teaches you alot of necessary html which is good to know. You can buy dreamweaver at a discounted student price. So my advice to you. Play with the html the old fashioned way with notepad and then save up some money and purchase dreamweaver at the student price. Hope that helps

Best Regards,

why use notepad though when you can use a text editor with syntax highlighting and other helpful features (line numbers etc)?!

and don't forget you must meet the student status requirements to qualify for a student licence, otherwise it's illegal
