IMO, there's no such thing as "web 2.0" BS. To me, it's just another buzzword.

But...Wikipedia has their definition of it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2

That's my opinion and I'm stickin to it.

I agree with coolslko and Moxxnixx web 2.0 should not be considered akin to moving from XP to Vista.

I read somewhere a long time ago (don't remember where) "The web industry completely overestimates where they will be 3 years from now and completely underestimates where they will be 10 years from now"

Web 2.0 IMO is a buzz phrase and the its all in a days work with the natural progression of the web

There is too many versions on Web 2.0, I think we need to give credit to O'Reily in that it is an extension of the business to the web.

There isn't really any such thing as Web 2.0, there's just a service pack for version 1.0.

Web 2.0 still hasn't been clearly defined - check the wikipedia link that someone mentioned though - it gives the clearest definition I've seen.

My understanding of web 2.0 is that it's an Internet description of being able to access a complete product/service directly from the web without having to "download" software into your computer's hard drive.

An example of sites that take advantage of web 2.0 technology would be:

www.myspace.com
www.youtube.com
www.linkedin.com
www.easyvideostream.com
www.facebook.com
www.powerofvideo.com

Example of non-web 2.0 technology:

www.efax.com
www.cuteftp.com

Everyone's going in the web 2.0 direction...that's a sign of the times..

Marketing buzzword. Some say it refers to AJAX, some say it's social networking, others say it's an all-encompassing word referring to attractive designs that still have high usability (designing to W3C and HCI standards, separating content from style, keeping Google happy etc), which is my preferred definition.
