It's kinda strange what I'm looking for. I have a site designed just as the customer wants it, except they want to put in all of their own content. I said thats perfectly fine, I can give them the index.html file and ill comment where they insert their content. The columns already expand automatically and copying the code creates a new box for them and shifts the rest down...works great. However, they started to whine about not wanting to mess around with html (...i thought it was obvious...)

Anyways, so is there anyway I can use wordpress to just fill in the content boxes I already have? Normally I use drupal but setting drupal up for such a simple site is pointless imo.

No matter what you want to call it, it's going to be some form of CMS. A very simple one maybe, but it will be one.

Search around for some of the simple, basic CMS/blog scripts there are around.

You could create a template based on the index file and add editable regions where they want to be able to change content. Then use Webedit and they can work with their site similar to a word document. However, you do need a webedit account which is not free (its fairly cheap though) so if this is the only client that you think will need this capability then it may not be worth it to you. If this issue is something you can foresee running into again in the future it would probably be worth it to just get a web edit account.
