Hi,

I am designing a website for a restaurant but and I am running into loading issues. It is very very slow.

The url is http://www.lemonleafrestaurant.com/index2.shtml

If you can help me point out what is causing it, I would be most grateful.

Thanks.

What did you use to make the site? If you are using front page that could be the problem. Front page sites load very slowly in firefox and a few other browsers. It is pretty much optimized for internet explorer.

Give us some details on how you made the site.

Ummm...

You have 8 images loading, each of which is approx. 190kb

That means the client's browser (whether it's IE Firefox or anything else) must download at least 1.5mb before the page is "loaded".

At 56kbps (yes, some people are still on dialup) that's generously 7 KB/s which is over 3 minutes to load the page.

It took too long to load for me and I'm on ADSL. I would immediately leave a site that loaded so slowly. Use smaller or lower-resolution pictures. Or redesign the site to be mostly informative and have the photos available in a gallery page of some sort (but not the home page).

It could be because of the impages. I use a javascipt that is suppose to rotate the images on after another. I wonder if there is a way to have a separate image loaded and shown up while the script is loading the to other images.

As for what I used for the site, I basically hand coded the site. I did not use Frontpage.

It's slow loading because:
1 - you're using frames, which means you're not loading 1 page, you're loading MULTIPLE pages
2 - tables for layout - slows things down
3 - large images
