Do you any of you people use SMF as a forum software? I do and I like the compatibility. I used to use phpbb but I now realize it is all talk and no walk. You might screw up your forum hardif you try any of the hacks, it has a bunch of security holes and more. It does have better themes though.

You should use one for a community, if they like something. You could have a forum on PlayMeNow for support and donations. Just a thought.

I'm not going against you if you like phpBB, I'm just saying that phpBB has a lot of security holes and it's harder to install hacks.

That's a must for a tutorial site so users can poted their own tutorials. That is a complete must. If you have enough money, get IPB or Vbulletin, if not, get SMF or phpBB.

SMF got great mods and skin......i tried and failed in installing it.....but i do prefer SMF over normal phpbb

yeah. smf is better than phpbb but v bulliten and ipb are much better

yeah, vB is the best in my opinion, but sure, it's REALLY expensive, for that i prefer SMF most of the times, it also have really good skins

hey since we are on the subject of forums, here's a silly question

any of you know how to use the backup when the forum goes down

i mean if i'm moving to another host, i want to bring bak all the posts and such.....anyone know how to help?

it depends on the forum, for vB you have imPex, that is a tool for backup and porting from one type of forum to another type.
i don't know if there are others tools like that
