Hi - I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Basically, I am developing a computer science homepage - and am wondering if anyone has any ideas for some graphics that I can use. I am not very creative and am looking for a "wow" factor on my website. The address is:

http://www.cse.dmu.ac.uk/~p04283218/mainframe9/

Thank You.

Hi,

It will go in the place of the breadcrumbs - and the breadcrumbs will be taken below.

Thanks,

I would use photos. As just a side note, you may want to increase the width of your text input on that page.

A color scheme other than flat gray would be in order, and you might want to consider a background image to your side links, changing the color of the text appropriately for sufficient contrast. Also, put style="border:none;" in the img tag for your valid XHTML png.

The flash animation also renders too slowly, then doesn't stay for enough time when fully rendered.

It's actually preferable to keep it simple, IMHO. More graphics aren't what you need, just a bit of work on the content you already have.

I would just get a free template that you like and add some free stock photos from a site like http://www.sxc.hu/

You can always get any kind of photo that also looks professional on stock photo websites. You actually have to pay for the good ones but usually you can find photos you can use at around a dollar each.

I would also suggest making some kind of visual theme, your site is very 'basic' right now. I also agree about the text entry field being much too narrow.

Good luck!

There is a message box at the page and not seems good. It seems vertical. You should fix it.

Just to say that you should not overload your site with graphics. it just slows down the speed with which your site loads

You should also consider making your own graphics. It's really easy

I agree you should not overload your site with graphics, but a nice logo and mabe some good nav tabs never hurt.
