I have 2 questions.

How much on average would you charge, if someone wanted you to manage their website? eg. update news, content on it.. I'm talking on a monthly basis?

Also, how much would you charge for a design for a website?

I'm asking because it seems like prices have always changed up. I have some local people interested and thought I'd ask here just for the heck of it. I could really use the cash though, since I'm a college student right now.

first you add up the expenditures (web hosting, domain etc.) and then come up with some kind of price

I don't think you'll get many people telling you their exact prices.

There are generally two ways:

1. Charge by the hour
- you charge your hourly rate then bill the customer on how many hours you use each month.

2. Charge a fixed fee
- you agree exactly what will be done each month for the same rate every month, you still get paid even if there are no updates. If there is work over and above what's agreed then just charge extra.
