those reliable statistics are a year old and although good as a general indication, aren't the same as the specific stats for the site you're designing. something to keep in mind
True, but it shows the change in time how its been growing and certainly has grown since Jan07. I mean 14% last year, I'm sure its under 10% now.
I'm designing a site at the moment which is roughly 980px wide, which leaves just enough space to either side and fits in a 1024x768 resolution too. But I know that 99% of people will have a decent monitor to view it on. There are still some people who wont have a decent mintor but I can bet you that by 2010 that the vast majority of the developed world will have a resolution of 1024x768 or above.
i just mean that you have more to lose by ignoring those on 800x600. if it's just a personal site and people leave it doesn't matter as much as losing sales
