The title about sums it up.

I was reviewing my site and noticed that most websites have this I know the terms and conditions is for legal protection so my question is how important is it ?

and is the privacy policy for legal protection as well or is there a law that says i need one ?

And any other helpful infor you have on the topic throw it my way thanks.



After some thought I still want to know what I asked above. I also want to know if anyone wants to let me rip off thier terms and conditions and pricay policy IF I need them.

I am fairly sure that US law says if you collect any "personaly identifiable" information on your site, you must have a privacy policy to explain what you do with that information. IMO, standard server logs do not collect anything "personaly identifiable".

One of the advertising sites I used once required it as a condition of acceptence into the program and I have just kept on placing them on each site. The same one actually.

I agree with Colbyt - a privacy policy isn't completely necessary, but if you collect any personal data (names, addresses etc.) then a privacy policy is a very good idea - you can pick up free ones if you Google for them.

Terms and conditions are optional. They can certainly improve visitors confidence in you if you have them, but they aren't absolutely necessary.
