I'm making a new site for my school, but I am not sure how I should lay everything out. I was hoping I could find some ideas on some sites.

Instead of going to general template sites, why don't you check out the sites for schools and colleges in your area? That would give you more specific ideas. Also, have in mind what kind of sections and functions you want for your site to have, so that when you check these sites out you'll have a point of reference when drafting out a few sketches for your layout.
