My computer has been messed up forever and I cant seem to fix it. I am a freelance web designer and I obviously need a good computer. I am giving up and getting a new...I need something new anyway. Are there any good deals on a good reliable computer right now. Where and which brand? I figure someone on here has had a good experience with a computer recently. Does anyone recommend a dell? Was just curious...

Well. I use Celeron 1700/EPOX BEAV/GeForce2 64MB/Maxtor 30Gb/128 MB DIMM (and other features of course, that's just main). I can say that it's quite good for me - i use Photoshop 7.0, Flash MX, Deep Exploration 3D & Deep Paint 3D. So it may be your choise. Do you work with 3D graphics?..

If you are looking for a budget PC and can wait a month or two, Dell should be having some pretty good back to school specials.

Otherwise I would recommend building your own, it's not hard to do and for the average to high end computers it can be significantly cheaper. Plus you know your are getting good components and not the bargain of the week components that most manufactures get. Everyone who I have built a computer for or convinced to build their own have loved their computer because they tend to work better, and are tailored to what they need.

I couldn't agree more with Virtual930, about building your own computer and really it's not that hard. You will have much better components, my husband builds our computers and they are tailored to our needs. Hopefully you can go in this direction...

You may want to check out the For Sale section at our partner forum, Tech-Forums. Usually, there are some good deals listed there.

Of coures, if you decide to put one together, there is the place to get help!

Or, the ones posting here may be able to help you put one together!

If your working with graphics or video I would suggest a large hard drive, lots and lots of memory, Good video card and a fast prosser. Make your work much more fun.

My husband would be willing to share his knowledge if you decide to build your own computer...
