recently i've heard that i should drop the tables and use div tags and my question is :wich of the 2 are better?, and why?, wich one is easier to use?

Once you learn css and <div> tags, you'll never go back. It's lighter which makes it load faster. It's better for search engine optimization the list goes on and on...

Tables are better. For showing table data. Like from a database or in an Excel file. Everything else, divs all teh way.

This discussion has been held many, many, many times here and on other forums. Do a search, you'll find plenty.

Tables should NOT be used for layout, they are for TABULAR DATA. 10 years ago we figured out how to gain some control of a layout on HTML 2 using tables - no more. CSS is the way to go for SO many reasons. Here's one good presentation to read:
