I have found bits of answers to this question scattered around all over the place and hope to get some straight answers from here as you have all been really useful in the past (even if you didn't know it)

I have a website at the moment. I want to add a news feed to the site so that a non technical person can enter an article, submit it and have it appear at the top of a certain page. As a result of this I would also need a seperate page that would handle the archived articles and another page where the user can login and type the article. I want all of these pages to be added to my present site.

First of all. Is this too much to ask?
Secondly. All of the CMS's I have tried seem far too big and far too self contained to be able to transfer/import into my present site without having to completely recreate the look of my site as a them for them.
Thirdly. If the answer is 'code it yourself' where do I begin. What should I be looking at. Where do I learn?

I think allot of people are wanting the same thing at the moment. Every forum I look at somebody is asking the same thing (and not getting a very comprehensive answer). So I think some kind of indepth tutorial on how to manage this would go down a storm for anybody who wants to tackle it.

Sorry this has ended up being a bit long. I hope you are still with me and that we can get some closure on this repeating problem.

Matthew

Well, first of all, you need to think: "What design languages do I know?"

If you know PHP, it shouldn't be that hard to implement one of the less advances CMS's into your site. Check out some of the CMS's on Wikipedia

If you don't know PHP, then you're going to have to learn it to get what you want out of one of these programs.

If you get/create the right CMS, none of the things that you are talking about shouldn't be that hard to integrate.

Looking around further I think what I am after doesn't exist.

So I guess I will just have to either jump into the world of PHP and create my own CMS or install a well known CMS and bend it to my will.

So the next you will be hearing of me will be on the PHP threads.

Thanks
