That is a very awesome article, sadly enough I've been to all those sites and complained for those very reasons. The only thing I think could be changed is don't open links in new windows. I that ability in order to open things such as a chat room or a forum into a new window while leaving the user capable of reading the rest of the site.

That's a good article and if you hadn't linked it I wouldn't have bothered going past the title when visiting the site.

Why?

Because they have a block of adsense right below the title of the article you have to scroll past to get to the content. I usually just navigate away from that "usability nightmare."

They should add this to their list.

Frightening.

What's also frightening is how little many web users know about how to control their browsing experience.

This article is very good - I agree with each point for the most part. Popups and resized windows are some of my designing hates and I try not to do any of this in my own work.

Thanks for sharing LNR

I saw that article about a week ago. I posted there that they made a usability error of their own. There list should have been made with bullets, and not numbered as it was. Numbering a list suggest priority, where bullets do not.

I don't think that's a USABILITY issue - but more a SEMANTICS issue
