A car alarm is a device attached within a vehicle with the purpose of detecting unauthorized movement to the car. When this happens, the alarm emits a high pitch sound alerting the car-owner.
Vibrations or specific unauthorized interaction with the vehicle can trigger an alarm. Because of this sensitive nature, many car alarms are falsely set off. Large trucks passing by can cause vibrations, and interactions can be caused by people weaving in between cars to get somewhere.
Due to many car alarms being set off accidentally, many people have become numb to the sound of the alarm. They see them as more of a hindrance rather than help.
