Standard vs. Premium SSL certificate from Godaddy?

I need to purchase an SSL certificate for an online store and am unsure of two things:

1. Where to buy from
2. What to buy

As far as #1 goes, it seems like Godaddy is a fairly reputable company and is popular for SSL certificates. However, Godaddy offers two different type of certificates: standard, and premium.

The only apparent difference is that the premium certificate allows the address bar to turn green when using https. Do you think that is necessary? Which one would you buy?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks!

Nobody?

Wow, this forum used to be so full of life. Now whenever I post on here it's days before I get a response, if at all. Sad

From a functional point of view it doesn't really matter, they both do exactly the same job of encrypting the communication between server and client.

"Premium" is probably "signed" by a "recognised authority" such as Verisign or GeoTrust. Which means the certificate authority is "known" to browser/OS developers and is already "built in" to the OS or browser

Whereas the "standard" will be "self-signed" and will need to be "accepted" by the users when they arrive at the secure URL.
