Hi, I'm working on a site for a client whose hosting package uses directadmin.

I need to create a subdomain but the 'Subdomain Management' link which is usually there, isn't!

I don't know why this might have happened, any ideas?

Many thanks

Is the account allowed to create subdomains?

Various aspects of the GUI can be disabled/removed from the package if they are not allowed/intended to be used by a particular account.

I did read something about this but I couldn't find any instructions on how to enable them if they had been disabled for some reason. Apparently there is an option somewhere for the admin to block their usage but I haven't been able to find it

It is in directadmin.conf which is usually located in;

/usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf

Configuration values

and you will probably need root shell access to change it.

This may seem like a dumb question, because I am not used to working with directadmin, but exactly how do I access that?

Do you, or the client have shell (SSH) access as root or sudo privileges?

Thanks for your replies Chris, you were right - I had to get in touch with the client's host who had not given the client access to certain options.

The way their hosting works is strange, I've never seen it before, but all is well now so thanks for your input
