I'm a SEO guy that can squeak by w/ HTML, CSS, and Javascript - but don't know a whole lot about ftp sites.
I have a client's site where they gave me the login and PW. I couldn't login on firefox but was able to get a prompt box on IE to login - which worked. Now that I'm logged in, I can't exit out. I closed the browsers, rebooted the PC, and I'm able to get in automatically. But there is no exit.

Anyone know how I can exit out of this ftp site???
And now for the second stupid question - would people be able to send the site email or order stuff on it since I'm logged in?
Geez...this is embarrasing.

There must be an exit. Yeah people would do that even if you are logged in forever.:d. Nothing is stupid when it needs a sensible answer.

Only if they are using your computer and browser.

depending on the servers configuration FTP will time out after 10 - 20 minutes.

unless it's a web-based ftp site (where you *might* have to log in) you can just close the page, clear your browser cache and your user/pass will be cleared, (if that's what your worried about) otherwise if it's a web-based ftp site, you should click the logout button and the cache for the page will be cleared automatically (username / password you entered to access the ftp site)

Oh yeah, you don't have anything to worry about as long as the computer is the only one in the network, otherwise, if you have other users connected to the same network, they could access the ftp too. Doesn't sound like that is the case here.

Geez...this is embarrasing.

FTP does not work on Firefox. You will have to close the FTP connection to exit for that you will have to click on file menu from your IE browser where your can see the FTP URL and click on logout.

Regarding your second query, yes. people can email or orders if you are logged int to FTP.
