Hey everyone, I'm interested in running a web server at home but i have a few problems.
1. Port 80 is blocked my my ISP [Verizon Online]
2. I have a dynamic IP address
3. I want to use the domain I already have
4. I'm 15 years old so I haven't got much money [I can't get a job until I'm 16]
I Know people have found ways around these problems individually but I can't seem to find a solution to all of my problems.
Thanks for you time everyone!

You don't need much money, you need something like $5/month for a shared hosting. If your parents are that greedy ask them to lend you some.

So why do you need it to be accessible from outside?

I advise you not to mess with setting up mailservers, it is too complex if done right and has nothing to do with webdev. Better use google apps to host your mx at google servers.

OMG
You have serious problems if you cannot setup your domain DNS correctly. Also, if you would someday start setting up DNS server use mydns as it allows to store data in mysql and not to bother with text files as in bind case.

While you have dynamic ip at home it would be near to impossible to point your domain to your home ip correctly.

So have I, never found it to be a problem.
DynDNS.com, DirectUpdate and a paid account.
Ran a mail server and 2 webservers with 20 odd sites for a couple friends who wanted some playing space.

Outside of DynDNS, you might consider checking into No-IP [ http://www.no-ip.com/ ]. They offer services like DynDNS, and I have personally used No-IP before and I greatly enjoyed it.
Also as far as the port block on port 80, you can always use a different port. People would normally use port 90 if port 80 is blocked.

Why can't you run the web server as normal with a dynamic IP? Get BIND and set the TTL to something real low, when configuring. This will allow name servers to update quicker when you need to add a new IP.
It's going to be a bit harder ... but nowhere near impossible.
Also, I would stick with bind. If you're planning to actually learn something ... why not learn something you might see again in the future. It's what most of us web hosts actually use : P. Consider it the "industry standard".

You mean that having dynamic IP you simply add some dozens of A records and it works? Or you change the single A record several times per day? I am sorry, but probably I am too narrow-minded to understand how you can point a domain name to an IP address that changes ocassionaly and unpredictably.

You use a dynamic DNS service and update daemon.

I did it manually for about three months .. It's not too hard at all. It probably would have been smarter to do what Chris is suggesting (and I recommend you do take that path), but I don't regret doing it.

Updating the records would be too much for me LOL, I think I'm gonna go with no-ip's DNS service. Thanx Everyone!
