Hi everyone

I had a designer build a site for me which enables business to add their details on my site To do so, It requires businesses to register their details. I would receive an email which I would verify before their registration is complete.

However this seems to be a mess. When they register online, it automatically approves them instead of waiting for my approval. My annoying designer has still not done anything about it.

Also, if they register using hotmail or yahoo my confirmation mail goes to their spam box. Why is this? Could it be the settings or something to do with my designers setting?

Do you think I need some sort of new email script and new hosting service? I want to remove my site and cut all ties with this designer. I made the mistake of paying him in full before the site was complete and he rarely answers any mails of mine

It's hard to give a specific answer without seeing the code that was used. If you can post the code I'm sure a few people here will be glad to help.

There isn't an easy answer though. It's possible all you need is a few tweaks to your current script and it's possible a new script would be the better option. Hard to know without seeing the code, though.

about your spam issue:
you must have an spf (sender policy framework) record in your dns setup. it provides information about the mail servers allowed to send email from your domain. if you don't provide an spf record, some mail providers might put all the email from your server in the spam box. search a bit for more info

you could use google apps for your domain email services, that way there would not be any problems with your email going to spam box.

here's a description on how to put spf records for your domain:
