I'm impressed with the amount of traffic my site is getting at the moment, bandwidth is high but thats due to the nature of the site, but can someone explain the difference with regards to the following:

In Awstats I have the following

Number of Visits: 59
Pages: 228
Hits: 771


Is it basically the number of visits you get in a day, the number of pages they view but where does hits come into this?

For AWStats

Visits = Unique Visitors

Pages = Page Views

Hits = the number of external entities requested by the page views.
eg:
Images, External Scripts, Stylesheets etc

You could ad your site to the alexa rankings too. If you have enough traffic you get a nice overview of it
