I was just browsing through my Add/remove Programs list this afternoon, and thought to myself - Do I really need Windows Defender?

I have used it, since it was released, and have NEVER found anything in the way of malicious bodies on my system whilst using it, but have nearly always found something, whilst using a different spyware/Virus-type program.

If I deleted it, would it really be missed? I have read in various PC magazines that it is "essential", but im not so sure personally...

What do you think?

No, I never found it of any use. Instead I've installed Spyware Terminator, it's a lot better.

Windows Defender is not good, I used it too but uninstalled it because I am not satisfied with its performance.

Defender does NOTHING at all!

I downloaded test spyware to test the program and it never caught it.

I'm also using Spyware Terminator, and Norton now as well since one usually catches what another doesn't, but Defender has caught nothing yet.

Well I had spyware in my computer two months ago, so as recommended I downloaded windows defender...but it didn't even recognise that it was adware/malware in my pc...So it is useless in my opinion...

I have never used it, but I have heard that it does almost nothing on many other forums I belong to. By the way, I wouldn't use that font, it is very difficult to read.

I strongly recommend Nod32, it's really good anti-virus software.

windows defender sucks.... it was originally made to only fight a few specific viruses out there then they got the bright idea to try to make it an anti-virus thing...

It's bulky and doesnt' do the job... like most M$ things lol

I'd say if you already have anti-virus go ahead and remove it.
