I'm looking for advice as to what is best to use for site traffic monitoring? I'm running Apache and I know I can monitor using that with log files but that is limited! I'm building sites using subdomains and that's where the support stops with the built in log utility! There appears to be quite a few choices and I'm hoping you're going to help me make the right one the first time! Thanks and happy selling!

If you're running WHM/cPanel, AwStats is a very nice program, and the stats are fairly accurate. Another one you might want to look at is Urchin, but I'm not 100% on the accuracy of that one.

Awstats fits best in this case (imo).

AwStats produces very nice stats...

Ha, honestly it does. I love it, and I use it to check all of my websites statistics.

I think it's more your personal preference, I like Awstats while others think it is not as accurate as others, but every stats program you will find is different then the other because they all track hits and visitors a little different which makes the stats show up different. Some stats programs use Javascript which some people have disabled so it could be a little inaccurate however most people do have javascript enabled.

A few choices you could use are built into cPanel are Analog, Awstats, Webalizer, and Subdomain Stats. And a few online based ones are Google Analytics (requies an invite), Mint (script you host on your site, Stat Counter, you might want to try out 1 or 2 and see what you like best, again you can use a search engine to find more online free stats trackers as well. Best of luck!
