So, how often do you take backups of your websites? Is there a way to take mass backups? And what about your forums - daily?

My dedicated server takes them every 2 days. Also another handy feature.

I have a script which backs up my DB daily, but leaving the previous 2 day's backups. So in reality i have 3 days backup always available.. This has proven to come in super handy atleast for me. I try to DL them to my disk 1-2 times weekly ..

I have automatic backups running, but are also doing manual morning and evening to be 100% safe.

I'm guilty of not regularly backing up my sites. With my new setup, I have MySQL backups sent to my email account and that's about it. I have the files of my sites already so that's all fine for me.

Not as often as I wish I did. I have been taking them at random times but not too often as most of my website's have huge backup file sizes.

Rsyncing will reduce the backup sizes, unless you already do that.. in which case I just insulted your intelligence..

For those of you who have automatic backups - is this by your host or yourself? If you use a script to do it, is it through your control panel or something else?

I know there are alot of web site owners and even webhosts out there having vital business "material" online and they do not backup.

I can not understand this because one succeded hack or hardware error coul get all of it lost. People really need to get better at this!

i backup every 6 hours at the moment...only because it usually takes about 4 hours to do an entire backup cycle. My files are quick, but grabbing the databases takes a few hours.

i have a backup made of my dedicated server every nite done by my host.

i was thinking about taking it to the next level and doing an additional level of backups to another datacenter or my computer.

what recommendations would you guys give to do so?
